Esta antología bilingüe de poesía salvadoreña busca desafiar el concepto tradicional de poesía nacional para dar cabida a las diversas identidades que coexisten en el terreno del imaginario poético. Considerando que la elasticidad de las fronteras nacionales desdibujan las identidades, Kalina no solo presenta el trabajo de poetas que residen en El Salvador y escriben en español, sino que también expone el trabajo de poetas que han emigrado y escriben en la lengua del país adoptado. Estos poemas ofrecen a los lectores, tanto a los que leen en español como a los que leen en inglés, una variedad de contrastes lingüísticos, temáticos y estéticos, además de similitudes. La primera de su clase, esta antología brinda una oportunidad para que los poetas salvadoreños y los poetas salvadoreños-estadounidenses establezcan un diálogo poético, entre ellos y con la comunidad poética en toda su extensión.

This bilingual Salvadoran poetry anthology seeks to challenge the traditional concept of national poetry to accommodate the diverse identities that coexist in the world of Salvadoran poetry. Considering the blurring of identities and the elasticity of national borders, Kalina not only presents the work of poets who reside in El Salvador and write in Spanish, but also exposes the work of poets who have emigrated and write in the language of the adopted country. These poems offer readers, both those reading in Spanish and those reading in English, an array of linguistic, thematic, and aesthetic contrasts and likenesses. The first of its kind, this anthology provides an opportunity for Salvadoran poets and Salvadoran-American poets to establish a poetic dialogue, with each other and with the poetic community at large.
